Sometimes you will find out interesting things about your users through doing usability testing. Knowing how a user views your site will help improve your websites conversions. How accurate is this data? Well, like any experiement without knowing all the controls and variables it’s hard to determine how accurate these tests are. Does a subject under observation act the same way as one who is not?

In my conclusion, this image above shows what I feel to be a good representation of how users use a search engine such as Google. One can conclude then, that this image shows the importance of SEO and organic search engine listings, since a majority of the eye traffic is directed there. The “F” shaped pattern shows though that a first place position does not necessarily get more attention then other positions. Basically, users don’t see the first placed result as the best, instead they read the snippets, and pick from there.

So, snippets must be important. More about that later…
